Pope Mountain Arts

More than a building…

Pope Mountain Arts located at 675 Birch Street, and situated on the ancestral territory of the Nak’azdli Whut’en, is a building with a long history.  It began as a Hudson Bay Store, then moved to its current location to be utilized first as a Mormon Church, then the Court House, Jail and BC Government Agent office.

In 2010 it was taken over by the Community Arts Council of Fort St James and is now a vibrant Art Centre offering an inclusive welcoming space to Fort St James and surrounding communities.

Through its many upgrades and renovations, we have endeavored to preserve the historical features of the building.

Our space offers a wide range of art classes on all 3 levels of our Centre – Fibre Arts Studio in the attic, workshop & meeting space on the main floor & a Ceramic Studio in the basement.  Our main floor also features a 900 square foot open concept Gallery.

We offer a site rich in heritage and hospitality intended to showcase, celebrate and support local artists, while building connections between artists and our local communities.

Applications for use of our space is open to artists, arts & cultural organizations and other community members and organizations.

“Pope Mountain Arts provides wonderful opportunities for entertainment, socializing, learning something new, as well as encouraging artistic expression for all.”
